7/5 - Edie Brit
The only thing I don't like about this pick is that it seems too damn obvious. Denton said in his interview that this death would definitely surprise people. Well anyone paying any attention to last week's episode shouldn't be surprised by this. Of course maybe Denton thinks killing any major character, no matter how foreshadowed, is surprising. Edie has just met a guy that looks to have been hired by Paul Young to put a hit on Edie. 'Nuff said.
2/1 - Mama Solis
Again, almost too obvious. Getting run over by a drunk driver tends to raise the odds of dying. I'm putting her odds as a little worse than Edie's simply because I think her living adds the most interesting wrinkles to the series. She's listed as a guest star though, so don't get too attached.
20/1 - John
This guy doesn't even have a last name. How permanent can he be? My theory here is that Mama Solis lives and tells Carlos that John is doing his wife, who then either shoots John or beats him to death. It's a bit of a stretch but certainly plausible.
40/1 - Carlos Solis
We're starting to reach here but that's often the place the surprises occur. Take the same theory that kills John but add the interference of Gabrielle, who somehow kills Carlos while trying to defend John.
75/1 - Paul Young
I have no particular theory here but anyone who hires a hit man can expect bad things to come their way.
100/1 - Mrs. Huber
She is my prime suspect for the note that caused Mary Alice to commit suicide. She seems pretty evil and judgmental, is very nosy and has had Edie as a houseguest for some time. That's where I think Edie got that paper. I'm thinking that when Shaft gets ready to kill Edie, she begs for her life and somehow it becomes clear that she got the paper from Mrs. Huber. That could cause Shaft to shift targets or at least report back to Paul. It's a really messy scenario though, which is why I give it poor odds. Plus it seems awfully fast for something like this to happen in one episode.
200/1 - Andrew Van De Kamp
Another variant on the enraged Carlos theory. This time Carlos figures out who ran over his mother and he goes to get some payback. Since the hit and run was at night and had no direct witnesses, this seems unlikely.
250/1 - Rex Van De Kamp
I really don't think this will happen but Bree owns a handgun and he's being a real asshole. That makes him a regular candidate for death. Hell, she already tried to kill him once before, even if it was somewhat accidental.
500/1 - Gabrielle Solis
The final variant on the enraged Carlos theory. He's made pretty threatening comments in the past about what he would do if he found out he was being cheated on. The odds of this are pretty bad though, for the simple reason that Gabrielle is one of the four main characters. If the series had been running a few more seasons, this could be more plausible but in season one, this is next to impossible.
5000/1 - Bree & Danielle Van De Kamp, Lynette & Tom Scavo, Susan & Julie Mayer
I can't think of any reason any of these characters would end up dead.
7500/1 - Zach Young
I can't think of a reason for him either but his continued existence is a boon to the Mary Alice mystery. Once he's spilled his guts he can be safely written out of the series, but not before.
10,000/1 - Mike Delfino
Like Zach, he has secrets to spill, which ensures his survival. Plus, he has a budding romance with one of the main characters. That kind of thing will be milked for months or years. He's as safe as it gets.
