Hollyfeld
Hollyfeld, here.
Welcome to the first edition of The Hollyfeld Reporter, a semi-regular direct line to our readers through which I, or other members of the TNMC cast, can editorialize various aspects of the media. This will not be another stupid column written by some guy who doesn't know what he's talking about - I will speak out only on matters about which I feel confident I have a right to an opinion. Exactly how many matters that entails no doubt remains to be seen. If I am too ignorant about a subject to discuss it intelligently, I will not discuss it at all, or mention it only in passing. The issues of the entertainment industry are too complex, and often too important, to criticize lightly. I also feel that uncalled-for negativity is unproductive at best, and harmful at worst, but more often than not merely unnecessary.

Hollyfeld
Hollyfeld, here. Thanks to the fabulous work of TNMC's fabulous editor John Shea, yours truly was able to attend this year's San Diego Comic Con, replete with Press Pass, meaning that I was able to do some pretty wonderful shit. What follows is my adventure, as best it could be documented. Watch out for lots of news tidbits along the way, and some movie reviews to come in The Untitled Deadpool Column. I took many, many pictures along the way, but since I am not currently the proprietor of a digital camera, we'll just have to wait to see how those come out. Any good ones will go up on the site in the next day or so, and if there are quite a few good ones I might just go ahead and do a photo journal for you all. We'll just have to see. And now… The Con, Part 1.

Hollyfeld, here. Welcome to the second part of my San Diego Comic Con coverage. As you may remember, the last edition of The Hollyfeld Reporter ended with me going to sleep and getting a crick in my neck. Well if THAT excited you, you're just going to LOVE this.

Hollyfeld
Hollyfeld, here, for the final installment of his San Diego Comic Con Escapades. A bit of news about the pictures I had promised - it turns out it's going to be a couple of days. In order to get you guys the best picture quality possible, assuming they'll come out at all, I have gotten the "extra-special-super-duper" package at the developers. That will take at least a couple of days. I promise you that you will see that as soon as I do… maybe even before.

Hollyfeld
Hollyfeld, here. Not ten minutes ago did I finish watching James Dean on TNT, and already my mind is awash with regrets. To my dismay, however, these regrets are not my own - I regret that the film failed to provide those scenes which could have pushed it over the edge of mediocrity, and head-on into greatness.

Hollyfeld
Hollyfeld, here. Well, it's that time of year again - the time when all the good movies finally come out. In all fairness, we have hardly had a dearth of worthwhile films so far this year: Memento will almost certainly be remembered come Oscar time, and The Tailor of Panama, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Battle Royale (for those who've had the opportunity to see it) have hardly been disappointments. But, as usual, Hollywood saves the best films of the year for last. And the media, accordingly, is currently telling us which films to watch for this up and coming fall. Fall Previews are abound, and everyone seems eager to drop in their two cents about which films will be worth seeing this fall. Sight unseen, largely, but when everyone is ignorant, everyone has the exact same right to an opinion. And, as you are about to see, one of those people is I.

Hollyfeld
Hollyfeld, here. I've held off on discussing the events of ate for various reasons, but mostly shame. I am a desensitized erson. For all the remorse I felt for the nation's... no. For all the remorse I feel for the world's loss in the last several days, I did not cry. It didn't seem right. It didn't seem real. It seemed like, well, a movie.

Hollyfeld and John Shea
Hollyfeld, here. We're back with our annual TNMC Oscar Nominee Predictions. Last year our editor-in-chief, John "Batman" Shea, and I tried our luck at predicting who the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences would select as the top five candidates in the top categories, and did fairly well. A brief review of our picks shows us being right for three or four nominees per category. However, 2000, though hardly full of sure things, was still more cut and dry than 2001, in which there are numerous films of comparable acclaim all vying for the same awards. So without further ado (sorry, one more: ado), the Batman and The Closet Monster (bonus points for anyone who got that) are taking their crack at predicting the most prestigious nominees of the year:
