He is close to signing on to Martin Scorsese's next film, The Departed. It is a remake of the Infernal Affairs trilogy of movies from Hong Kong. The originals were directed by Lau Wai-keung and Mak Siu-fai.
The story is about a gang member who infiltrates the police department. At the same time, a cop infiltrates the gang. Eventually they discover the existence of the other, setting off a race to discover who is who.
Damon would by playing opposite Scorsese's current favorite actor, Leonardo DiCaprio. They would presumably be playing the two spies.
