He hasn't made a movie since 2002's Panic Room but the man who loves the dark is coming back to us.
David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club) will direct Zodiac, a movie based on the Zodiac serial killer who murdered at least 37 people in San Francisco in the 60s and 70s. The killer was never caught.
Robert Downey Jr and Jake Gyllenhaal will star in the movie along with Mark Ruffalo. Downey and Gyllenhaal will portray reporters Paul Avery and Robert Graysmith, who covered the murders for the San Francisco Chronicle. That newspaper was used by the killer as a means of communicating with authorities, an idea that has led to countless bad serial killer movie plots. Ruffalo will be playing the homicide detective investigating the murders.
The script was written by James Vanderbilt. It is based on a pair of books written by Graysmith on the Zodiac killer.
