I'm no longer on vacation. That's been true for more than a week. But I just didn't get around to posting about it. It's not that riveting a piece of news, you know?
But it was a productive vacation. I completed rewrites on two separate scripts, Joe Bob the Messiah and She Hates the Idea. These weren't massive rewrites that changed huge parts of the scripts. It was a matter of strengthening elements and tightening the whole piece. I'm pretty happy with the results although I have yet to print them out and hand them to anyone for an opinion. I'm not afraid of opinions, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
At the moment I'm a bit lacking in direction. I did a bit of work on my new untitled sci-fi script. But I find my thoughts becoming increasing centered on that zombie movie I talked about a while back. Some of my time has been spent learning After Effects lately, which has given me the confidence that I could manage some pretty cool effects on a non-existent budget. That micro budget is a huge part of this idea so this is very encouraging. I have a lot more to learn but that's something I always like doing. I taught myself how to use Photoshop and Premiere, so why not After Effects?
One thing I can say for certain about the zombie project is the title. I'm naming it after my hometown. It will be called Ghent, NY. It remains to be seen what the rest of the town will think about that. But the name is very important because my hometown is the inspiration for the project. The very nature of the town has a direct bearing on the story. This is either going to make me a star in my town or get me ostracized. We shall see.
